DESCRIPTION
Med Biosciences PBS-Viral Sampling and Transport Kits contains 2 mL (PBS-VΤM, Cat. No. PBV01-OP01-2ML, and PBV01-OP02-2ML) or 3 mL (PBS-VΤM, Cat. No. PBV01-OP01-3ML, and PBV01-OP02-3 ML) of PBS Viral Transport Medium with Gentamicin Sulfate and Amphotericin B, individually packaged and sterile Oropharyngeal iSwab™ (Cat. No. OPN-001, or OP002), and Biohazard Ziplock Bags 6″ x 9″ (Cat. No. ZIP-001).
We also provide the same sampling kits containing the Phosphate Buffered Saline without Gentamicin Sulfate and Amphotericin B (2 mL PBS-VΤM, Cat. No. PBV02-OP01-2ML, and Cat. No. PBV02-OP02-2ML), and (3 mL PBS-V™, Cat. No. PBV02-OP01-3ML, and Cat. No. PBV02-OP02-3ML).
The kit is used to collect oral, and oropharyngeal swab sample from patients suspected with COVID19 viral infection or other types of RNA or DNA viruses. The collected swab sample is transported in the PBS-VΤM medium to diagnostic laboratories for molecular analysis. The solution in tubes contains Gentamicin Sulphate and Amphotericin B to inhibit potential bacterial and fungal contamination.
This kit can be also used in skin lesions specimen collection and transport for viral diagnostic analysis such as Monkeypox virus.

PBS – VΤM Solution (2 mL or 3 mL)
PBS-VΤM is provided in a polypropylene cryogenic leak-proof tube allowing the storage of samples under different temperatures (ambient to -80 ᴼC).
PBS-VΤM is produced under highest manufacturing standards. It is formulated from highly pure molecular-grade chemicals in autoclaved 18.2 mega Ω-cm DNase-RNase-free deionized water.
The solution is sterilized by filtration using 0.22 µM filter cartridge.
Each batch of PBS-VΤM product is extensively evaluated for efficacy, stability, sterility, and confirmed for being DNase and RNase free.
The solution of products (Cat. No. K-PBV01-OP01-2ML, K-PBV01-OP02-2ML, Cat. No. K-PBV01-OP01-3ML, and K-PBV01-OP02-3ML) is composed of 137 mM Sodium Chloride (NaCl), 2.7 mM Potassium Chloride (KCl), 10 mM Dibasic Sodium Phosphate (Na2HPO4), 1.8 mM Monobasic Potassium Phosphate (KH2PO4), 50 mg/mL Gentamicin Sulfate, and 250 µg/mL Amphotericin B (pH 7.4 ± 0.1). The products (Cat. No. K-PBV02-OP01-2ML, K-PBV02-OP02-2ML, Cat. No. K-PBV02-OP01-3ML, and K-PBV02-OP02-3ML) have the same composition without Gentamicin sulfate, and Amphotericin B.
Oropharyngeal Swab:
OPN-001 and OPN-002 iSwabs™ are High-quality oropharyngeal swabs that are flocked using soft medical-grade Nylon Microfibers, which do not to interfere with subsequent molecular analysis of the collected samples.
PBS-VΤM Sampling Kits are available with two oropharyngeal swab options: OPN-001, having the built-in breakpoint at 80 mm from the tip side (Cat. No. K-PBV01-OP01-2ML, K-PBV02-OP01-2ML, K-PBV01-OP01-3ML, and K-PBV02-OP01-3ML); and OPN-002, having the same breakpoint at 30 mm from the tip side (Cat. No. K-PBV01-OP02-2ML, K-PBV02-OP02-2ML, K-PBV01-OP02-3ML, and K-PBV02-OP02-3ML).
We use special flocking technology that grants optimum sample collection and subsequent analysis.
The special soft brush-like Nylon Microfibers on swab tips are designed to maximize adsorption capacity to viral particles upon sample collection, and high releasing capacity of the harvested sample particles to liquid media, with the least entrapment of particle within the swab tip.
In addition to human sampling, our oropharyngeal Swabs can be also used for collecting samples from human skin, vagina, and oral samples from animals.
Swabs are individually wrapped in plastic PE/paper easy-peel pouches.
Certified sterilization by radiation for the packaged swabs.

PACKAGING:
100 PBS – VΤM Oral Sampling kits are packaged in a carton box containing: 100 PBS-VΤM tubes (2 mL or 3 mL), 100 oropharyngeal iSwab (each 50 individually wrapped swabs are packaged in plastic resealable bags), and 100 single-layer biohazard bags (100 bags in a resealable bag).
4, 6, 8, and 12 boxes (100 kits each) are packaged in one large carton (400 to1200 kits).
