20X MOPS – SDS Running Buffer (pH 7.7) – For Electrophoresis of Bis-Tris Gel

DESCRIPTION

MOPS-SDS Running Buffer is recommended for electrophoretic separating large and medium-sized proteins on Bis-Tris gels.

20X MOPS-SDS Running Buffer is formulated for running proteins on hand-made or commercially available precast Bis-Tris gels.

It is recommended for separating medium to large-size proteins. MOPS has a higher pKa than MES, making the MOPS-SDS Running Buffer slower than the MES-SDS running buffer. The difference in ion migration affects stacking and leads to a difference in protein separation range between these buffers. MOPS buffer allows proteins to run slower than when using MES buffer.

MOPS-SDS running buffer provides higher resolution of medium to large-size protein bands, faster electrophoresis time, and better detection of lower amounts of protein on Bis-Tris gels than other standard electrophoresis buffers.

The 20X concentrated MOPS-SDS running buffer is composed of 1 M MOPS (3-(N-morpholino) propanesulfonic acid), 1 M Bis-Tris, 20 mM EDTA with 2% SDS and other ingredients (pH 7.7 ± 0.1).

To use, Dilute 1 volume of the buffer with 19 volumes of deionized molecular grade water. The final concentrations in 1X solution are 50 mM MOPS, 50 mM Bis-Tris, 1 mM EDTA, 0.1 % SDS and other ingredients (pH 7.7 ± 0.1). It is recommended to check the pH of the solution after dilution.

Our buffer is formulated from Highly Pure Molecular-Grade Chemicals in Autoclaved 18.2 mega Ω-cm Water.

The buffer is sterile, filtered through 0.22 µm membrane.

The buffer is tested and certified for being RNase/DNase and protease free.
