DESCRIPTION
Med Biosciences Ready-To-Use (1X) Red Blood Cell (RBC) Lysis Buffer contains an optimized concentration of ammonium chloride to promote quick lysis of erythrocytes (RBC) in single-cell suspensions of human peripheral blood and murine hematopoietic tissues such as spleen. Human whole blood is composed of 45% red blood cells. Without the removal of red blood cells, it is difficult to analyze the phenotype and function of leukocytes in whole blood. Hemoglobin and other red blood cell contents can also interfere with several biochemical and molecular biology assays.
The buffer contains ammonium chloride and other ingredients, which hemolyze red cells with minimal effect on leukocytes, including lymphocytes, when used as instructed. Nucleated red cells are not effectively lysed with ammonium chloride.
Our RBC lysis buffer is Ideal for the isolation of leukocytes for cell culture, flow cytometry analysis, and for DNA and RNA isolation purposes. Using RBC Lysis Buffer eliminates the need for toxic organic solvents or chaotropic reagents.
Our buffer is formulated from Highly Pure Molecular-Grade Chemicals in Autoclaved 18.2 mega Ω-cm Water.
The buffer is sterile, filtered through 0.2 µm filer. It is also DNase/RNase and protease free.
COMPOSITION:
The ready-to-use RBC lysis buffer is composed of 150 mM Ammonium Chloride (NH4Cl), 10 mM Potassium Bicarbonate (KHCO3), and 0.1 mM EDTA Disodium Salt (Ethylenediaminetetraacetic acid disodium salt dihydrate), pH 7.3 ± 0.1.
