DESCRIPTION
Med Biosciences Glycerol Buffered Saline (GBS) Medium is recommended for use in qualitative procedures for collection, transportation, and preservation of fecal clinical specimens.

The medium contains Glycerol-Phosphate Buffer to maintain a near neutral pH. This is necessary to preserve certain enteric pathogens (Salmonella and Shigella species and Escherichia coli ) in stool specimens. Phenol Red is a pH indicator which changes the medium to a yellow when the medium is acidified by the action of these enteric bacteria. Note: GBS medium is not suitable for Vibrio cholera, Campylobacter species or Yersinia enterocolitica.
GBS medium is produced under highest manufacturing standards. It is formulated from highly pure molecular-grade chemicals in autoclaved 18.2 mega Ω-cm DNase-RNase-free deionized water.
GBS Medium is sterilized by autoclaving. The medium is negative for microbial growth after 48 hours at 37á´¼C.
Our medium is provided in a pre-labeled polypropylene screwcap tube with conical shaped bottom filled with 2 mL of Glycerol buffered Saline.
Our tubes/vials have the following criteria: Screwcap, Upright free-standing tube with Conical bottom, Clear graduation (0.5 to 10 mL), Sterile, DNase/RNase-free, Cryogenic, Leak-proof, Shatter-proof and can be Centrifuged. Tube internal dimensions: 94 x Ø14.8 mm, and external dimensions: 95 x Ø 15.9 mm. Tube volume is 10 mL. We can accommodate packaging the medium in any tube size of your choice!
COMPOSITION:
The medium is composed of a phosphate buffer solution containing Sodium Chloride, Di-sodium hydrogen phosphate, Potassium dihydrogen phosphate with Phenol red and Glycerol (pH 7.2 ± 0.2).
PACKAGING:
100 medium Tubes (1 mL, or 2 mL each) are racked in one box.
4, 6, 8, and 12 boxes (100 tubes each) are packaged in one large carton (400 to1200 tubes).
