DESCRIPTION
Med Biosciences VΤM Oral Sampling Kit contains 2 mL or 3 mL of Viral Transport and Storage Medium (Cat. No. V02-2ML, and V02-3ML, respectively), individually packaged and sterile Oral/Oropharyngeal iSwabâ„¢ (Cat. No. NPN-001 or Cat. No. NPN-002), and Biohazard Ziplock Bags 6″ x 9″ (Cat. No. ZIP-001).
The kit is used to collect oral, and oropharyngeal swab sample from patients suspected with COVID19 viral infection or other types of viruses. The collected swab sample is stored in Vtm medium tube which designed to preserve the harvested infectious agents for transportation and subsequent laboratory molecular analysis.
V™ (2 mL & 3 mL):
Med Biosciences (VΤM) Viral Transport Medium provides an appropriate transport and storage environment for clinical sampled swabs. Our VΤM is intended for transporting clinical specimens suspected to contain SARS-CoV-2 (COVID-19) for subsequent testing using biochemical, molecular assays (RNA extraction and PCR/RT-PCR), antigen assays, or other validated diagnostic protocols.
The Medium is formulated following the United States Center of Disease Control CDC SOP# DSR-052-05, Preparation of Viral Transport Medium under FDA device listing D411652 (Code JSG, Exempt).
Med Biosciences (MedBio, LLC.) is authorized by FDA to commercially manufacture and distribute Viral Transport Medium VΤM as set forth in Section IV.B of the FDA’s COVID-19 Transport Media Policy.
Our VΤM is provided as Ready-To-Use Sample Transporting Medium in pre-labeled transparent polypropylene screwcap tubes containing 2 mL and 3 mL volumes.
Our tubes have the following criteria: Screwcap, Upright free-standing tube with Conical bottom, Clear engraved graduation (0.5 to 10 mL), Sterile, DNase/RNase-free, Cryogenic, Leak-proof, Shatter-proof and can be Centrifuged. Tube internal dimensions: 94 x Ø14.8 mm, and external dimensions: 95 x Ø 15.9 mm. Tube volume is 10 mL. We can accommodate packaging the medium in any tube size of your choice!
Our medium is produced under highest manufacturing standards. It is formulated from highly pure molecular-grade chemicals in Autoclaved 18.2 mega Ω-cm DNase-RNase-free deionized water.
The high-quality heat inactivated fetal bovine serum (FBS) used in our medium formulation is obtained from a USA dependable source and extensively tested for mycoplasma and other pathogens.
The medium is sterilized by filtration using 0.22 µM filter cartridges.
Each batch of our VΤM products is extensively evaluated for efficacy, stability, sterility and confirmed for absence of any DNase/RNase and protease activity.
The medium is composed of 1X Hanks Balanced Salt Solution (HBSS), 2% Heat Inactivated FBS (Made in USA), 50 mg/mL Gentamicin Sulfate, 250 µg/mL Amphotericin B, and 0.0003% Phenol Red (pH 7.3 ± 0.1).
Oral / Oropharyngeal iSwabâ„¢:
OPN-001 and OPN-002 iSwabsâ„¢ are High-quality oropharyngeal swabs that are flocked using soft medical-grade Nylon Microfibers, which do not to interfere with subsequent molecular analysis of the collected samples.
Vtm Oral Sampling Kits are available with two oropharyngeal swab options: OPN-001, having the built-in breakpoint at 80 mm from the tip side (Cat. No. K-V02-OP01-2ML/or 3ML, and KP-V02-OP01-2ML/or 3ML); and OPN-002, having the same breakpoint at 30 mm from the tip side (Cat. No. K-V02-OP02-2ML/or 3ML, and KP-V02-OP02-2ML/or 3ML).
We use special flocking technology that grants optimum sample collection and subsequent analysis.
The special soft brush-like Nylon Microfibers on swab tips are designed to maximize adsorption capacity to viral particles upon sample collection, and high releasing capacity of the harvested sample particles to liquid media, with the least entrapment of particle within the swab tip.
In addition to human sampling, our oropharyngeal Swabs can be also used for collecting samples from human skin, vagina, and oral samples from animals.
Swabs are individually wrapped in plastic PE/paper easy-peel pouches.
Certified sterilization by radiation for the packaged swabs.

PACKAGING:
First Option: 100 VΤM Oral Sampling and Transport kits are packaged in one carton box containing: 100 VΤM medium tubes (2 mL, or 3 mL), 100 oral/oropharyngeal iSwab™ (each 50 individually wrapped swabs are packaged in plastic resealable bags), and 100 single-layer biohazard bags (100 biohazard bags in a resealable bag). 4, 6, 8, and 12 boxes (100 kits each) are packaged in one large carton (400 to1200 kits).
Second Option: 1 individually wrapped oral/oropharyngeal, 1 VΤM medium tube (2 mL, or 3 mL), and 1 specimen biohazard bag are packaged together in a peel-pouch. 50 kits in one resealable bag. 10 bags (500 kits) in one carton.

Each batch of our VΤM kits is vigorously evaluated for efficacy, sterility, and stability. The transport medium is sterile filtered (using 0.22 µm filter), and RNase and DNase free.
Product is stable and shipped at room temperature. Store at 2-8 á´¼C upon receiving for extended shelf life.
